Building a Cabinet Table

It is with a lot of pride I share the fact, my House is relatively small (1,100 SqFt). Living in a small House requires a lot of thought and utilization of space. So, my Wife and I made the decision to optimize a few key areas of the property. First and foremost (Before the Cabinet Table) will be a larger storage building. We need storage beyond the Attic and having a modest detached, "Shed," is optimal. We are fortunate enough to live in a jurisdiction that follows NJ Residential Building Code. We can build a 200 SqFt shed up to 10 Ft high (2,000 CuFt). Then will be the Kitchen Island Table but my thoughts are running already.

I found in the NJRBC (NJ Residential Building Code) that a Kitchen Island must have an Electrical Outlet for every 18 SqFt. This is quite an obstacle for a Home on a Slab Foundation. It seems quite hard to understand why such a regulation would be in place. It seems the logic is to avoid the general population from running an extension cord to their Island. You know, run a mixer or some sort of handy device. After all, the Codes are pretty much to protect the general population from harming themselves. I can see quite a few reasons to be concerned about running a Cord to the Island where water is fairly common and people might trip. I guess it's hard to understand why that wouldn't be done with the typical Table but...

So the Work-Around is not to simple. The Island must not be attached to the ground and must be moveable. For example, it can be built on Castor Wheels. Preferably locking Castors. My thoughts are towards an inner frame slightly off the ground. A letter H with three 1x4" boards connecting the two parallel boards. Then two small cabinets mounted between. Facia material will provide an aesthetic finished appearance.

I've turned to the Internet for images and found a lot of ideas ranging from Rustic Farm Tables to contemporary Tables with a lot of fancy detail. I will find a happy medium. I've developed new Blood Clots (Lupus) in both legs. With that, progress will be over quite a duration of time. I intend on sharing this build on YouTube.
